For centuries, women have had a potent connection with the moon - it is the symbol of the goddess and the embodiment of divine feminine energy!
Each month, the moon moves through different phases, from dark (new) to light (full) and back again, and as she moves, it can impact your emotions, intuitions, energy and even your menstrual cycle.
It is no coincident that the menstrual cycle and the lunar cycle are both equal in length!
Working with the moon and her phases is a really powerful way to align your goals and make relevant changes in your life by reflecting on what you want to let go of, and what you want the next lunar cycle to bring you.
When recovering my period from HA (Hypothalamic Amenorrhea) I used the magic of the moon and her phases as a guideline to anchor in on my intentions, assess what was no longer working for me and take inspired action. My first recovery period in 6 years came on the 25th May 2020, just after the birth of a New Moon! I now ovulate with the Full Moon and bleed with the New Moon.
Guys trust me on this, lunar magic is powerful! Whether it's for re-starting your period or just setting new goals for the next lunar month, the moon has your back.
HOW TO USE THE MOON AS A GUIDE RE-START YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE
🌑 New Moon: at this time, the sun and moon come into alignment, meaning the masculine energy of the sun merges with the feminine energy of the moon. It is a time for us to go inwards, spend more time in stillness & meditation. It is the most powerful time to commit to an intention or project for the moon cycle ahead.
During this phase, listen to your hunches. Subtle realizations will often bubble up to the surface!
⠀⠀
🌗Waxing quarter moon: spend this time anchoring your intentions. Visualise, journal and affirm what you want to bring into your life. It symbolises the journey of maturation your ovum, so engage in practices of overcoming challenges that may arise, reflect, adapt and adjust plans accordingly.
Avoid getting knocked down by these early setbacks. Refine your ideas, if needed.
⠀⠀
🌕Full moon: this is the most nourishing time when the moon receives the light of the sun and shines all back to us. It is the peak of creative energy and is the time when you may feel most powerful and strong as it symbolises ovulation. It is a powerful time for embodiment as you may feel your intentions begin to align.
The full moon supports both emotional revelations and release. The full moon also reveals – be prepared for surprising truths to come out during this phase.
⠀⠀
🌓Waning quarter moon: start to think about what you need to release, reflect if anything is blocking you and go within to do internal work of seeking answers. Be committed and allow yourself to listen to your emotions and what arises. As you move full circle back to your new moon, reflect on the lunar cycle, see what has worked, what hasn’t worked, and consider how you want to reorganise for the next new moon.
This is a time of healing in preparation for the new cycle to begin and most importantly, taking the time for some self-care and rest.
